FAQ

Who can use the Shared Research Facilities?

The SRF is open to all researchers at WVU and to researchers outside WVU as well. There is no requirement that you be a member of any WVU department, college, group, or center to use the facilities.

What does it cost?

WVU SRF offers internal, external higher education, and government and commercial rates. Access all rate information at https://sharedresearchfacilities.wvu.edu/about/facility-rates

I have an idea but no funding to test it. Does SRF offer any support?

The Deans of WVU's Davis, Eberly, and Statler Colleges and the WVU Vice President for Research have created a special fund to allow SRF to offer time on instruments to their faculty at no cost to the faculty member. Learn more about Deans' InSPIRe (Instrumentation Seed Program for Innovative Research).

I have an idea to make the SRF run better. Who do I tell?

Any member of the SRF staff is happy to receive your ideas.

How do I find out what kind of instruments you have?

See our searchable instrumentation list at: https://sharedresearchfacilities.wvu.edu/about/instruments-list

Why is the JEOL Scanning Electron Microscope listed in the Cleanroom and Electron Microscopy Facilities?

The JEOL SEM has E-Beam Lithography capability, a technique used in microfabrication processes in the Cleanroom in addition to being an imaging device. Currently, the charge for the microscope is set at the Cleanroom Facilities rate.
