Marcela Redigolo received her PhD in 2002 from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) in Brazil working on characterization of CdTe quantum dots in glass matrix. She developed part of her experiments at Columbia University under Prof. Louis E. Brus. From 2000 to 2003, Dr. Redigolo worked as Assistant Professor in Brazil working on biomedical engineering. In 2004, she moved to USA as a research associate at Vanderbilt University to develop novel rare-earth based nanostructure materials. Dr. Redigolo moved to the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) in 2008, after spending one year at the University of California in Irvine (UCI) as a visitor scientist. Her research focus at UTD was the development of functionalized magnetic beads for nanomedicine applications. Her experience with structure characterization of a variety of materials, especially with electron microscopy, brought her to WVU, where she currently is the Electron Microscopy Facility Manager. Dr. Redigolo’s research interest includes nanoscience applied to biomedicine and materials science, cryo-electron microscopy at nanometer and subnanometer resolutions, and in-situ electron microscopy. |
